I use this page as an overview of everything going on at my school. Others have used this as their assignment page. Because I like to put lots of details, I don't use this for an assignment page but doing so is a viable option.
Cool things to do with this page (YISD users only):
- Use the "subscribe" feature on the "page settings" so that your students and parents can subscribe to the page and receive emails when you update it.
- Color code the categories so recognizing specific activities at a glance. However, please remember your audience. In some cases, you may not want to color code the categories. This could occur when you know that most users will be printing on a printer without color.
- Would you like to find all of the events in a certain category? It's simple! Just click on a category name under the "Categories Available" section of the calendar page. It's located underneath the calendar. You will then see all events in that one category.
- No need to reinvent the wheel. You can share calendars with others at your school and reduce the amount of time it takes to enter data. Just use the "show others" link in edit mode and choose the calendar and categories of your choice.
- Choose your viewing mode, whether it be day, week, month, or year. Because I use it as a general overview, I went with "monthly" view. You can make this selection in "Page Settings>General" section.
- Be sure to choose your "Home Page Box Colors" under "Trim Colors" for a nice color match.
